A hallmark of this effort is a unique program that reaches out to diabetics and other high-risk patients before they experience significant kidney failure. The program is named the THRIVE (The High Risk-Intervention Via Education) Program.

While eventual kidney failure may not always be avoided, the THRIVE Program can delay the onset of end stage renal disease and help lessen possible side effects. The program not only addresses medical and dietary issues, but also focuses on social and psychological matters that may affect treatment.
